Black River Delta, the blues rock trio from Bollnäs, Sweden, have made a name for themselves since their inception with a raw and soulful sound deeply rooted in the Swedish forests of Hälsingland.

Raised among pine trees, gravel roads, and long winters, their music carries a unique blend of darkness, melancholy, and drive—where influences from blues legends meet modern rock. The band has previously released the acclaimed albums Devil on the Loose (2016), VOL II. (2018), and Shakin’ (2021), shaping their sound through everything from Robert Johnson and R.L. Burnside to contemporary acts like The Black Keys, Gary Clark Jr., and BRMC. Later this year, the band will release their new album via Despotz Records. On the upcoming record, they return to their roots and further deepen their sound—where modern rock meets classic blues, filtered through a Nordic melancholy in which silence, darkness, and solitude hold just as much weight as the music itself. Despotz Records, the label that helped the band Thundermother to its success, is now happy to announce the signing of Filippa Nässils first solo blues rock album.

“We are so happy to welcome back Filippa into our Despotz family” – Ömer Akay (VD Despotz Records). This is what Filippa had to say regarding the album:

“The songs on this album are my personal reflections from the long USA tour that took Thundermother through 12 states and 21 gigs as the opening act for Scorpions. These songs were written at truck stops, bars in Texas, on the plains of northern California, vineyards in Napa, Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco, and at Buddy Guy’s Legends in downtown Chicago, where Buddy Guy’s son Greg guests on one track. I am proud of this first personal project, simply called “Filippa Nässil,” where I sing on my own, and it feels great to be back on Stockholm’s finest ‘Despotz Records.’ I have chosen to make the album in both English and Swedish so that the listener can choose for themselves what language they want to listen to.”.

Nekromant is a Heavy Metal-trio from Sweden, forged between two mountains in their home village of Vargön which translates to Wolf Island. The band was first formed back in 2011 under the moniker Serpent, and have since then released three full length albums, drawing inspiration from Judas Priest, Grand Magus, Black Sabbath and Pentagram, to name a few.

Nekromant is, and has been for the last five years, one of the most active, powerful, tightest and prominent live bands within the Swedish underground scene. They have played more than 100 shows, which includes seven European tours and nearly every club and festival in Sweden worth mentioning.  

In 2020 the band signed a deal with Swedish label Despotz Records and are set to release their fourth album in 2021.

THYRFING emerged from the ever-growing underground scene in Sweden back in 1995. After seven full-length albums and numerous live performances all over the world, the band have gained a strong following over the years and an exquisite standing within the metal scene. They are considered one of the top bands within the so-called viking/pagan metal genre – but on the other hand, Thyrfing are so much more with their truly outstanding and self-contained musical offering. The band is now finally about to start the production of their next album, scheduled to be released through Despotz Records in spring 2021.

A gloriously hooky slice of melodic rock n roll, featuring two former Thundermothers as well as  the Soilwork/The Nightflight Orchestra main man, the track backs up the band’s statement of intent that music should be fun!

And with that, Donna Cannone was born. Former Thundermother member Giorgia Carteri (guitars) and her fellow Italian colleague Luca D’Andria themselves heading to a rehearsal room a short while ago to play some music and, in their own words, ‘have some fun.’ Giorgia’s former Thundermother bandmate Tilda Nilke Nordlund was brought in on drums as the trio began putting together a number of new songs. A knock at the door brought a surprise as, guitar in hand, Bjorn ‘Speed’ Strid (Soilwork, The Nightflight Orchestra) had heard what the band were up to and wanted in. Soon the quartet were recording demos, and one of these demos fell into the hands of Swedish label Despotz Records and a deal was soon done.
