Raised among pine trees, gravel roads, and long winters, their music carries a unique blend of darkness, melancholy, and drive—where influences from blues legends meet modern rock. The band has previously released the acclaimed albums Devil on the Loose (2016), VOL II. (2018), and Shakin’ (2021), shaping their sound through everything from Robert Johnson and R.L. Burnside to contemporary acts like The Black Keys, Gary Clark Jr., and BRMC.
Rather than looking toward American landscapes, Black River Delta draw inspiration from what’s closest to them—the surrounding forests, the roads along the E4 highway, and the constant tension between wanting to leave and wanting to stay.

Carl-Marcus Gidlöf of Despotz Records comments on the signing:

The band had this to say:

Later this year, the band will release their new album via Despotz Records. On the upcoming record, they return to their roots and further deepen their sound—where modern rock meets classic blues, filtered through a Nordic melancholy in which silence, darkness, and solitude hold just as much weight as the music itself. Apocalypse Orchestra is a Swedish metal band that masterfully blends medieval melodies
with the crushing power of doom metal, creating an epic and atmospheric soundscape that
transports listeners to a distant past.

Formed in Gävle, Sweden 2013, the band is known for fusing traditional folk instruments,
such as the hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, and mandolas, with heavy, distorted guitars and thunderous
drums. With their debut album “The End Is Nigh” (2017), Apocalypse Orchestra quickly established themselves as a unique force in the metal scene. The album received critical acclaim for its innovative approach to storytelling, weaving together history, mythology, and existential
themes.

The band is now back with a new single called “Virago”, taken from their upcoming new album “A Plague upon Thee”.

With their second release, ”A Plague upon Thee”, they unearth new stories from the past, with
tales of walled in zealots, religion and science in medieval times, and the ransacking of hell!
Apocalypse Orchestra delivers memorable live shows where the band utilizes theatrical
performances, sometimes actors and dancers, fire and projected animation, thus enhancing the
experience, giving the show a feel of classic storytelling.
